Why Is The Mona Lisa Famous. Despite the mind-bogglingly huge price tag, neither the Louvre nor the French government would ever consider selling her. There is no doubt that the Mona Lisa is a very good painting.
What really is the fuss about this painting. The word mona is a colloquial version of the Italian word for madam or ma'am, hence the title Mona Lisa. It is not a usual thing when people mention art and do not mention the painting of Mona Lisa.
But what makes the Mona Lisa so special?
The answer is clear and found in the name.

For me, the Mona Lisa is famous simply because she is a beautiful painting.
